Additionally, those involved hosted work laptops in their homes, allowing the hackers to simulate their physical presence in the United States while operating from abroad.<\/p>\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The scheme not only allowed hackers to gain unauthorized access, but also, <strong>through the salaries paid by U.S. companies, approximately 1.18 million euros ended up in the hands of the North Korean regime<\/strong>.<\/p>\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Two other defendants, Audricus Phagnasy and Jason Salazar, also collaborated in creating an environment that facilitated this infiltration, although in exchange for significantly smaller amounts.<\/p>\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-embed is-type-rich is-provider-twitter wp-block-embed-twitter\"><div class=\"wp-block-embed__wrapper\">\n<blockquote class=\"twitter-tweet\" data-width=\"550\" data-dnt=\"true\"><p lang=\"en\" dir=\"ltr\">\u203c\ufe0f North Korean hackers from the Chollima APT, part Lazarus, were caught.<br><br>Meet Mateo and Alfredo, skilled engineers, allegedly from Mexico.
