With a first season consisting of seven episodes, the series is set in the mid-19th century and tells the story of a woman who, unable to have children, adopts four orphans. However, her way of life is threatened by a local aristocrat who seeks to take over her land, unleashing a dramatic conflict.

A complicated series from the beginning

The series features an attractive cast led by Lena Headey, known for her memorable role as Cersei Lannister in ‘Game of Thrones’, and Gillian Anderson, famous for her portrayal of Dana Scully in ‘The X-Files’. This change also affected the duration of the episodes, with a notable reduction in the lengths of several of them after splitting the pilot into two longer parts.

Specialized critics have all kinds of opinions, as it seems that it has only convinced some.
