Google is looking to some of that action with its Google+ Sign-In<\/strong>. This basically means that you will have a single login for websites and apps. The service works very similarly to Facebook Connect. Users will be given a page alerting them to what the site or app has access to from your Google account, including your Gmail, Calendar, and other Google services.<\/p>\n

This is a smart move for Google as it will draw more users to its Google+<\/a> social network. Google+ Sign-In allows users to choose which Circles in Google+ to share with. And of course, you can set things to private if you so desire. Google is taking security very seriously and has made Google+ Sign-In work with its two-factor authentication. For Google+ Sign-In to reach the ubiquity of Facebook Connect, it has to have something more to offer. Google thinks that Facebook Connect results in “social spam,” which means over sharing of what you’re doing on different sites and services. Google+ Sign-In will have “selective sharing,” which works by allowing you to control what you share more easily. The information will be there on your Google+ profile when you want and your friends won’t have to read about your high score in Sugar Rush every 10 minutes.<\/p>\n

Things that you want to actively share with your friends on your Google+ feed will have better integration than what Facebook or Twitter have to offer. Google+ Sign-In will create interactive cards where you can click to listen or buy a song.<\/p>\n

Google+ Sign-In will we rolling out on the web, Android<\/a>, and iOS<\/a>. Android users get the added perk of being able to remotely trigger an installation of an app on their phone once you’ve logged onto a website that supports Google+ Sign-In.<\/p>\n

The service launches today with only a handful of partners supporting Sign-In. Some notable names include Fitbit, Flixter<\/a>, OpenTable, Shazam<\/a>, and TuneIn<\/a>.<\/p>\n
