So if you’ve mentioned that you’re vegetarian, that a family birthday is coming up, or shared other personal preferences, Gemini Live may use that context the next time you talk to it. The idea is to make follow-up conversations feel less mechanical and bring the voice experience closer to Gemini’s text chat, where memory has already been around for more than a year.

If you use Gemini a lot, this is the kind of update you’ll probably want. It ties into Google’s Personal Intelligence push, which the company highlighted at Google I/O 2026, and it gives Gemini Live a better shot at keeping up with rivals like ChatGPT’s voice mode.

Early reports, though, suggest the memory feature can be uneven. Sometimes the recall works, sometimes it doesn’t. And for plenty of people, the bigger issue will be privacy: whether they’re comfortable with Google holding onto personal details over time.

The feature is live now in English in the United States as part of the rollout Google started in June 2026. It isn’t landing for everyone at once, so some Android users may still see “coming soon” in Settings for the time being.

Google hasn’t said when more languages or countries will get it. The company also says that if you already have Personal Intelligence turned on, Gemini Live memory should switch on automatically.

        ChatGPT
        Download

        <text class="rating-score__number" content="" text-anchor="middle" transform="matrix(1 0 0 1 25 31.0837)" data-auto="app-user-score"></text>

Google has begun rolling out memory for Gemini Live in English in the United States, starting in June 2026.
