There’s a lot less of the original Control’s third-person shooting and telekinetic spectacle, and a much heavier focus on close-range fights built around the shape-shifting Aberrant weapon. The game also brings in skill trees, abilities, customization, dialogue choices, and a progression system with more going on under the hood.

This time, the story follows Dylan Faden through a paranaturally distorted Manhattan as he searches for Jesse Faden in the middle of a citywide supernatural crisis. That premise opens up a different angle on the Faden family, the Federal Bureau of Control, and the larger Remedy Connected Universe.

If you were hoping Remedy Entertainment would move Control forward without sanding off the parts that made it special, this looks promising. Early hands-on previews say the combat has real energy, and they also make one thing clear: the game still feels unmistakably like Control, and unmistakably like Remedy Entertainment.

Control Resonant launches worldwide on September 24, 2026 for PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X/S, and PC.
