You can connect with either a Gemini API key from Google AI Studio or through Google’s Gemini Enterprise Agent Platform. Apple says the enterprise route also brings the privacy controls and quota management bigger teams usually need.

The update also ships with Swift 6.3.3, along with refreshed SDKs for iOS 26.5, iPadOS 26.5, and Apple’s other platforms. Gemini’s addition also fits into Apple’s broader AI approach, which mixes on-device features with models hosted by outside partners.

Some analysts read this as another sign that Apple and Google are getting closer, especially with reports tied to future Siri work. If Xcode is part of your daily routine, this one’s probably worth installing.

That said, the first wave of reactions hasn’t been all positive. These assistants still look most helpful for smaller jobs, and some developers say competing models are still stronger on iOS-specific best practices than Google’s Gemini 2.5 Pro.

        Xcode
        Download

        <text class="rating-score__number" content="" text-anchor="middle" transform="matrix(1 0 0 1 25 31.0837)" data-auto="app-user-score"></text>

Xcode 26.6 is available for Mac now from Apple.

Apple has updated Xcode to version 26.6, and the headline change is native support for Google’s Gemini.
