Reports say Warner Bros. Discovery linked Suicide Squad: Kill the Justice League to a $200 million loss, with revenue landing far below Hogwarts Legacy.

People who used to work at Rocksteady said the studio’s first release since Batman: Arkham Knight kept changing course, pushed around by monetization plans, metrics, and executive demands, as Rocksteady moved away from what it did best in single-player games and into a live-service looter-shooter.

You can see that mismatch in the finished game. Rocksteady was known for tightly built single-player action, and Suicide Squad: Kill the Justice League ended up full of repetitive missions, gear grinding, and service systems that feel bolted on. Reviews were weak. Player counts were low.

And if what you wanted was another Arkham-style action game, that goes a long way toward explaining why Suicide Squad: Kill the Justice League never felt worth buying for a lot of players.

Former staff also described severe burnout, Steam concurrency reportedly falling to 118 in April 2024, layoffs, and lingering uncertainty over whether the studio would be downsized or shifted back to single-player work. Rocksteady leadership, for its part, hasn’t said much in public while Suicide Squad: Kill the Justice League turns into a cautionary tale.

If you still want to give Suicide Squad: Kill the Justice League a shot, it’s available on PC, PS5, and Xbox Series X/S.

After Suicide Squad: Kill the Justice League came out, former Rocksteady Studios developers said the game’s messy, drawn-out development had become so draining and so lacking in clear direction that some of them started thinking about leaving games altogether.
