Netflix<\/a> dropped The East Palace<\/em>, a South Korean dark fantasy miniseries, on July 17, 2026<\/strong>, and it didn\u2019t take long for the show to turn into one of the platform\u2019s biggest global launches of the year.<\/p>\n

In its first two days, The East Palace<\/em> pulled in 4.9 million views<\/strong> and climbed to No. 2 on Netflix\u2019s non-English Top 10, along with No. 4 worldwide overall, based on Netflix\u2019s own rankings. It was made as a standalone, eight-episode miniseries, but it\u2019s easy to see why people are already talking about a season 2. The show mixes medieval Korean folklore, supernatural mythology, and high-intensity action with inventive plotting, a suffocating atmosphere, and polished visual effects. That combination helps it rise above a fantasy field that\u2019s already packed, and if character-driven dark fantasy is your thing, this one\u2019s worth a look.<\/p>\n\n

Rotten Tomatoes<\/a> currently has The East Palace<\/em> at 100%<\/strong> from critics and 91% from audiences, and a lot of the show\u2019s pull comes from the chemistry between Nam Joo-hyuk and Roh Yoon-seo, which gives the supernatural chaos something solid to hang on to.<\/p>\n\n
