Nvidia originally claimed the GeForce GTX 1080 Ti was about 35% faster than the GeForce GTX 1080. Today, across a 12-game average, it’s still putting up 64 fps, which leaves it in the same range as the AMD Radeon RX 5700 XT, Nvidia GeForce RTX 2070, and Nvidia GeForce RTX 3060.

        NVIDIA GeForce Experience
        Download

        <text class="rating-score__number" content="" text-anchor="middle" transform="matrix(1 0 0 1 25 31.0837)" data-auto="app-user-score"></text>

Part of why it’s aged this well comes down to the hardware. The Nvidia GeForce GTX 1080 Ti packs 3,584 CUDA cores and 11 GB of GDDR5X on a 352-bit bus, and that’s still enough to run most modern games without much drama. You do have to be a little more realistic with settings now, though. High will often get you a steadier 60 fps where ultra used to be easier to justify.

That 11 GB VRAM buffer is really the thing keeping the Nvidia GeForce GTX 1080 Ti alive. It helps with high-resolution textures and avoids some of the stutter and texture pop-in you can run into on newer 8 GB cards. Still, you’re giving things up. There’s no hardware ray tracing, no DLSS, and Nvidia will stop Game Ready driver support in October 2025, then switch the card over to quarterly security updates through October 2028.

If you’re after cheap raster performance, the Nvidia GeForce GTX 1080 Ti is still a solid pickup at roughly $80 to $165 on the used market, even if the 250 W power draw feels old at this point. And used is your only option here. You can only get the GeForce GTX 1080 Ti secondhand.

        MSI Afterburner
        Download

        <text class="rating-score__number" content="" text-anchor="middle" transform="matrix(1 0 0 1 25 31.0837)" data-auto="app-user-score"></text>

Nearly ten years after the Nvidia GeForce GTX 1080 Ti launched on March 10, 2017, fresh testing says what a lot of PC gamers have probably already guessed: it still does the job at 1080p.
