Marvel is aiming to bring season 3 of X-Men ’97 to Disney+ in 2027, and season 4 is already on the calendar for 2028. There’s still no exact premiere date, though a mid-2027 debut feels plausible. What stands out here is the scheduling: after the long stretch between seasons 1 and 2, Marvel looks like it wants this show on a steadier yearly track. Season 3 is reportedly far along, both in development and post-production, and the finale has already been sent off for animation. Writing on season 4, meanwhile, is said to be moving along well.

No trailer yet. Still, New York Comic Con 2026 looks like the obvious spot for a first teaser, even if Marvel keeps the earliest footage limited to people in the room. The story also seems ready to get darker, especially on the political side, after season 2’s ending and post-credits scene. Mystique is coming back, Graydon Creed’s anti-mutant presidency is hanging over everything, Ray Chase and Jennifer Hale are expected to return, and Randall Carpenter is set to reprise Mystique. The Brotherhood also seems likely to matter more this time around. Magneto, Nightcrawler, and Apocalypse are still more of a question mark.

If you’ve been waiting for X-Men ’97 news, this is the kind of update that actually matters. The series is still one of the most promising things Marvel Animation has going: season 1 pulled in 4 million views in its first five days, season 2 landed a 100% score on Rotten Tomatoes, and this release plan could line up pretty neatly with Marvel’s reported live-action X-Men reboot in 2028.

You’ll be able to watch X-Men ’97 on Disney+.
