The team behind the fan-made Mexico expansion for Red Dead Redemption 2 on PC says it’s coming on September 16.

The pitch is a big one. The modders say Mexico won’t just sit there as scenery or a map add-on in the game’s 1907 setting, you’ll actually be able to go there and move through it properly. They’re promising new towns, NPCs , wildlife, activities, gang hideouts, bounty-hunter missions, and a fresh Sadie Adler storyline set against a country edging toward revolution. The whole thing is being framed around historical accuracy and Red Dead canon.

For anyone who’s spent years wishing Rockstar had made proper single-player DLC for Red Dead Redemption 2, this is probably the closest thing yet. Older datamines and file finds helped fuel the idea that Mexico content may at some point have been considered internally, though Rockstar has never confirmed that, and it hasn’t said anything about this project either.

The excitement around it isn’t hard to understand. Fans across social platforms, YouTube, and modding communities have been calling Nuevo Paraíso – The Forgotten Frontier the DLC Rockstar should’ve made, and a lot of that reaction comes down to how ambitious it looks and how polished the work appears to be. Most of that coverage has been especially strong in North America and Europe , while attention in Latin America seems lighter, which is a little surprising given the setting.

If you want to try it at launch, you’ll need the PC version of Red Dead Redemption 2.
