As much as Lanterns has been a success, the cancellation of Paradise Lost and Waller, before even turning in a finished script, has made alarm bells ring at DC.<\/p>\n\n

The next project on the chopping block?<\/p>\n\n

The Brave and the Bold. Which, if that title sounds unfamiliar, is the new Batman movie. <\/strong><\/p>\n\n

Bat-cancelled<\/h2>\n\n

You may be confusing The Brave and the Bold with The Batman II<\/a>, and that’s normal, because following DC continuity from afar is a mess.<\/p>\n\n

In this case, we’re talking about the movie slotted into the Shared Universe that Andy Muschietti was going to direct\u2026 until he himself, apparently, has confirmed that it’s been put on pause, as his friend Dan Marcus has said<\/strong>.<\/p>\n\n

According to what he posted on Twitter<\/a>, replying to a parody account that announced a new Batman, \u201cMuschietti told me that all work on The Brave and the Bold has been paused until the merger between Warner and Paramount takes place, but he also mentioned that if he didn’t end up directing the movie he’d simply make another one, so he didn’t seem worried\u201d<\/em>.<\/p>\n\n

Want to know who did seem worried after reading that?<\/p>\n\n

Exactly: James Gunn<\/a>.<\/p>\n\n

I have no idea if this is true or false (I\u2019m assuming it\u2019s definitely false), but I did hear from Muschietti that all work on THE BRAVE AND THE BOLD is on hold until after the merger is settled. https:\/\/t.co\/PnriT1kYKN<\/p>\n\n

Gunn has stated \u201cIt doesn’t sound like something Andy would say but the project is in no way on pause\u201d<\/strong><\/em>.<\/p>\n\n

Marcus himself ended up replying that he’s not an insider and has no idea what’s going on, but that \u201cMuschietti doesn’t know the movie’s current status. He spoke with my friend and me about this a few weeks ago, so either he’s out of the discussions or there have been updates since then\u201d<\/em>.<\/p>\n\n

For now, we don’t have any more news regarding the Caped Crusader, but, given the interest, the dry spell may end soon.<\/p>\n\n
