The company says it can&#8217;t process or ship customer orders right now, which is affecting <strong>day-to-day operations<\/strong> for a supplier hospitals and clinics around the world rely on. Its shares also fell in premarket trading after the disclosure.<\/p>\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">If you&#8217;re following Boston Scientific&#8217;s Irish operations, the impact is already showing up there too. Around <strong>1,200 employees<\/strong> in Cork were asked to work remotely where possible, and day-shift staff were sent home on full pay. Local reports say some workers in Clonmel and Galway were offered unpaid leave or asked to use annual leave. Boston Scientific employs more than 7,000 people in Ireland.<\/p>\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The company has brought in outside cybersecurity experts and says it&#8217;s still assessing the full scope of the incident and the damage to the business. There are still a lot of unanswered questions: <strong>how long recovery will take<\/strong>, whether ransomware was involved, whether any data was stolen, which systems were hit beyond some operating systems and business apps, and who was behind the attack.<\/p>\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">If you depend on medtech supply chains, this is one to watch closely.
