Not everything lasts forever, and Spider-Man: Brand New Day has already spent a long time holding down the number 1 spot at the box office in the United States. No wonder, of course: we don’t always get a movie that clears 2 billion dollars worldwide. However, the title that, along with The Odyssey, has drawn the biggest crowds this summer<\/strong> is in danger from this week’s releases. Or maybe not?<\/p>\n\n

Will an anvil fall on it?<\/h2>\n\n

The truth is that Marvel’s movie is expected to drop another 54% to a modest 18 million dollars, and it’s only up against two contenders: Coyote vs ACME and The Dog Constellation. The first was saved from cancellation thanks to the internet and has a plethora of good reviews that could lift it to number 1, but apparently it will have to settle for around 15 million at the box office, which could turn a profit internationally<\/strong>. Not too bad.<\/p>\n

Facing it is Ridley Scott’s new film, The Dog Constellation, which has been savaged by critics and is arriving with barely any marketing campaign. According to the experts, it will have to settle for between 10 and 14 million at the box office, and that’s with a whole lot of IMAX screens included! In other words, not even the director of Alien is going to bark at Marvel<\/strong>.<\/p>\n\n

So, then? Which movie will be the one that ends Spider-Man’s reign? Personally, if I had to bet on one, I’d go with Practical Magic 2, but I’m afraid even this legacy sequel may fall before the Wall-Crawler’s web<\/strong>.
