Meta appears to have backed away from Project OT, an internal restructuring effort that, at least on paper, could have cut some teams by as much as 60%<\/strong>. The idea was to reorganize around automation first: more software agents, smaller groups of people, fewer layers of management, and broader \u201cbuilder\u201d roles in place of many narrowly specialized jobs.<\/p>\n

This went further than the 10% workforce reduction Meta announced in May. A second round, reportedly planned for November<\/strong>, was later dropped by CEO Mark Zuckerberg before the first cuts even started, as concerns grew over whether this model could actually hold up at Meta\u2019s size.<\/p>\n\n

Internal reporting pointed to a mismatch<\/strong>. AI-assisted code changes were up 220%, but the number of new or improved features reaching users rose only 36%. So yes, a lot more code was getting pushed through, but the product gains didn\u2019t keep pace.<\/p>\n\n

The security and reliability picture didn\u2019t help. Reported internal data showed major technical and security incidents up 40%<\/strong>, while time spent fixing them jumped 70%. Employee sentiment also slid hard, from 74% to 55%, with frustration building over the scale of the cuts and over device tracking that monitored keystrokes and mouse movements.<\/p>\n\n

You won\u2019t be able to download Project OT because it was an internal Meta effort.
