Dire Wolf has put a date on The Last Battle, a premium bundle for War of the Dragon: The Wheel of Time, with a 2027 release<\/strong>. Right now, it looks like the only Wheel of Time project on the calendar with a clearly stated 2027 window. The name makes it easy to assume something bigger is coming, but this isn’t a new novel, film, or TV series.<\/p>\n

The tabletop campaign has already brought in more than $1.16 million<\/strong> from 6,156 backers, far past its original $50,000 goal, according to the campaign page.<\/p>\n\n

So if you’re waiting for the franchise to return to screens, this isn’t the announcement you’ve been hoping for.<\/p>\n\n

Prime Video canceled The Wheel of Time live-action series after three seasons, with reports citing high costs<\/strong> and lukewarm viewership. Showrunner Rafe Judkins disputed that explanation, though, arguing that audience numbers weren’t really the issue.<\/p>\n\n

On iwot Studios’ current roadmap for the franchise, The Wheel of Time is still supposed to move ahead with a new animated series<\/strong>, multiple animated films with Arcane producer Thomas Vu attached, a live-action prequel trilogy called The Age of Legends with Kari Skogland directing the first film, and a AAA open-world RPG<\/a>.<\/p>\n\n

Still, a lot of those projects don’t have firm timelines<\/strong>, distribution plans, or a full creative picture yet, so fans are stuck in a familiar place: hopeful, but skeptical.<\/p>\n
