Google says it also brings in phone manufacturers, wallet developers, and government agencies, all aiming at a shared standard for <strong>issuing, storing, and verifying<\/strong> credentials. On supported phones, Android Strongbox keeps that data in a protected area and only releases it after you authenticate with a fingerprint, face unlock, or PIN.<\/p>\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Google says this is the same <strong>security model already<\/strong> used by <a href=\"https:\/\/google-wallet.en.softonic.com\/\" rel=\"noopener\">Google Wallet<\/a>, and it pointed to that setup as a reference for the European Digital Identity Wallet expected by the end of 2026. Mobile driver\u2019s licenses are already expanding into more U.S. states and some TSA PreCheck checkpoints, Google says, though you\u2019ll still need a physical ID as backup.<\/p>\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">If broader digital ID support on Android matters to you, this is one to watch.
