Sony didn\u2019t announce Until Dawn 2 at the recent PlayStation State of Play, despite posts online claiming PlayStation had locked in a sequel for January.<\/p>\n

As of now, there\u2019s still no official reveal<\/strong>, no release date, no trailer, no platform list, and no confirmed developer. The reports going around, including a supposed January 28, 2027 launch, a ghost-hunter plot set on a tropical island, and Firesprite as the studio behind it, haven\u2019t been backed up by Sony, PlayStation Studios, or any official PlayStation channel.<\/p>\n\n

So if you\u2019re waiting for a proper sequel, this still doesn\u2019t count as news<\/strong>.<\/p>\n\n

What Sony has actually confirmed is the Until Dawn remake, which released for PlayStation 5 and PC on October 4, 2024<\/strong>. According to Sony, Ballistic Moon rebuilt Until Dawn in Unreal Engine 5 with some staff from the 2015 original involved. The core story stayed in place, but the remake added a third-person camera, stronger visuals, new lighting and environmental detail, a score by Mark Korven, reworked narrative beats, and a new prologue centered on the Washington family, while keeping the original voice performances.<\/p>\n\n

In other words, the remake feels closer to a careful rebuild<\/strong> than a major overhaul.<\/p>\n\n

That version is already out on PlayStation 5 and PC.
