NVIDIA pushed out GeForce Hotfix Driver 616.86 today<\/strong>. The update fixes browser flickering on some websites, problems creating virtual displays, and black screens during Remote Desktop sessions, according to the company.<\/p>\n

That said, this is only a partial follow-up<\/strong> to GeForce Hotfix Driver 616.56. It still doesn’t address the larger 8-bit display bug that can trigger white or black flashes and color corruption in games, on the Windows desktop, and during video playback, NVIDIA says.<\/p>\n\n

NVIDIA says it’s working on that issue. It still hasn’t shared a timeline<\/strong>, or any technical explanation for what’s causing it.<\/p>\n\n

So if you’ve been hit by the browser<\/strong> , virtual display, or Remote Desktop Protocol (RDP) issues, this hotfix is probably worth installing. If you’re on an 8-bit monitor, though, you may still be better off waiting or rolling back to an older driver if stability matters more.<\/p>\n\n

Another option, if your display supports it, is to switch from 8-bit<\/strong> to 10-bit color as a temporary workaround.<\/p>\n\n

Driver 616.86 is available now as an optional<\/strong> , beta-style hotfix from NVIDIA. As usual with hotfix releases, it comes with more limited QA than a standard WHQL driver, according to the company.<\/p>","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
