It also confirmed a few big details at once: the film&#8217;s title is simply <em>The Legend of Zelda<\/em>, the story is new rather than lifted from a single game, and it&#8217;s pulling from <strong>40 years of Zelda lore<\/strong>. The worldwide theatrical release is set for April 30, 2027.<\/p>\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">That plain, subtitle-free title isn&#8217;t an accident. Nintendo&#8217;s Shigeru Miyamoto said you&#8217;ll understand the reason for it once you&#8217;ve seen the movie.<\/p>\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">So this isn&#8217;t <em><a href=\"https:\/\/ocarina-of-time.en.softonic.com\/\" rel=\"noopener\">Ocarina of Time<\/a><\/em>, <em>Twilight Princess<\/em>, or <em>Breath of the Wild<\/em> retold on screen. Nintendo says it&#8217;s telling an <strong>original story built<\/strong> out of four decades of Zelda history, and the Triforce will matter a lot.<\/p>\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Bo Bragason is playing Zelda. Benjamin Evan Ainsworth is playing Link. Reported casting also includes Uli Latukefu as Ganon and Dichen Lachman as Impa.<\/p>\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Wes Ball is directing and co-producing alongside Shigeru Miyamoto and producer Avi Arad. That makes this one of Nintendo&#8217;s biggest movie swings since <em>The Super Mario Bros. Movie<\/em>, and a real test of <strong>how far the company<\/strong> can go with live-action.<\/p>\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">If you&#8217;ve been keeping up with <em>The Legend of Zelda<\/em> or <a href=\"https:\/\/en.softonic.com\/articles\/nintendo-wants-to-continue-releasing-movies-based-on-its-most-iconic-video-games\" rel=\"noopener\">Nintendo&#8217;s film plans<\/a>, the trailer is worth a look, even with reactions still split.<\/p>\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><em>The Legend of Zelda<\/em> reaches theaters worldwide on <strong>April 30, 2027<\/strong>, and <a href=\"https:\/\/netflix.en.softonic.com\/\" rel=\"noopener\">Netflix<\/a> streaming will follow.
