This new novel is being presented as the real ending to that King-Straub run. Straub still gets co-author credit, drawn from ideas and material he shared before his death in 2022, and the book will also feature 38 black-and-white illustrations by Gabriel Rodriguez.

So yes, this is a big one if you’ve been waiting on Jack Sawyer for a long time: 42 years since The Talisman, 25 since Black House. King has described the Territories as another version of Mid-World, which gives the book extra weight if you keep an eye on his larger fictional universe, especially after Netflix dropped the Duffer Brothers and Amblin adaptation in December 2025.

You’ll be able to get Other Worlds Than These in book form when it arrives on October 6, 2026.

Stephen King’s Other Worlds Than These is set for October 6, 2026, and it’s being billed as the third and final book in the trilogy that started with The Talisman in 1984 and continued with Black House in 2001, which King wrote with Peter Straub.
