The Wheel of Time<\/a> is getting its first officially licensed board game. War of the Dragon: The Wheel of Time has been announced for 2027<\/strong>, which gives fans one more thing to look toward after Amazon Prime Video<\/a>‘s live-action The Wheel of Time wrapped up after three seasons.<\/p>\n

Dire Wolf is making it a two-player<\/strong> grand-strategy game. One player leads the Light, the other the Shadow, and the fight stretches across the Westlands. The design mixes area control, tableau building, and set collection. There’s also a quicker Hero Mode, plus a bigger Epic Mode built around armies, major objectives, and the Last Battle.<\/p>\n\n

A couple of edition details matter here. War of the Dragon: The Wheel of Time (The One Power) is the Kickstarter<\/a>-exclusive<\/strong> version, while War of the Dragon: The Wheel of Time (Dragon Reborn Edition) is the standard retail release. The Kickstarter campaign page says the project has already brought in more than $1.16 million from 6,100 backers, well past its $50,000 goal. It also pulls from all 14 books, from The Shadow Rising through Tarmon Gai’don, which honestly feels like a better fit for the scale of this story than TV ever was.<\/p>\n\n

If you’ve been looking for a cleaner way into The Wheel of Time’s factions, wars, magic, and enormous cast, this looks like a good one to pick up. That goes double when the animated series, the films, the PC and mobile game, and the separate AAA open-world RPG still had very few concrete updates as of mid-2026<\/strong>.<\/p>\n\n
