ALSO, the micromobility startup backed by Rivian, has started testing its prototype e-bikes on public roads. That\u2019s the point where Rivian\u2019s micromobility plans move out of the lab and into the real world.<\/p>\n

Public-road testing matters because the prototype bikes are now being judged in ordinary riding conditions: traffic, braking, range, and whether they stay comfortable on longer rides. They\u2019re no longer just a concept sitting indoors.<\/p>\n\n

Still, this isn\u2019t a product launch. ALSO hasn\u2019t opened orders<\/strong>, shared full specs, confirmed pricing, announced any delivery timeline, or shown anything that suggests a retail rollout is close.<\/p>\n\n

So if you were expecting Rivian\u2019s design-first approach to turn out a consumer-ready e-bike in short order, this round of public-road testing is something to keep an eye on. It\u2019s not a launch, at least not yet.<\/p>\n\n

There\u2019s also the bigger reason ALSO exists at all. Rivian spun ALSO out as a separate micromobility company for e-bikes, scooters, and other lightweight EVs, raised $105 million<\/strong> from Eclipse Ventures at launch, kept Rivian on board as a minority shareholder, and has stayed closely tied to Rivian CEO RJ Scaringe as ALSO goes after shorter urban trips that don\u2019t need a huge electric SUV.<\/p>\n\n

For now, though, you still can\u2019t buy an ALSO bike anywhere, and the company still hasn\u2019t said what platform, price, range<\/strong> to expect.<\/p>\n
