As for battery life improvements, Apple has updated more than just the watch, since we also have a new charger. It looks the same as ever, but the difference is on the inside and it lets us charge our new watch quite a bit faster.

A 10 W charger for the new hardware

As reported by MacRumors, the new Apple Watch Magnetic Fast Charger, model A3277, can deliver up to 10 W of power, double the 5 W of the previous version. Combined with the internal changes in the new watches, a 15-minute charge gives you up to 12 hours of battery life on the Series 12 and up to 18 hours on the Ultra 4.

To get those numbers, you’ll need, of course, a 10 W or higher USB-C Power Delivery adapter. The same one we use to charge the iPhone, or even the Mac charger, will work just fine here.

Although the new charger is compatible with previous watches and we can use it with them without any issues, we won’t notice improvements in speed. The Series 11 still gets 8 hours of battery life after 15 minutes of charging and the Ultra 3 still gets 12 hours. The key lies in the internal hardware changes of the Series 12 and the Ultra 4.

Just like when choosing official and certified chargers for the Apple Watch, here the charger model is what matters. One that keeps our watches running longer on a single charge.

the Apple Watch Series 12 and the Apple Watch Ultra 4 arrive with a long list of new features.
