Ghosts: The Possession of Button House, the feature-film follow-up to the BBC sitcom Ghosts, has released its first trailer. It shows Julian possessing a teenage boy after a s\u00e9ance goes badly wrong and, in the process, breaks two of the biggest rules<\/strong> the original sitcom<\/a> had always stuck to.<\/p>\n

If you know the show, that’s a pretty big change. In Ghosts, the spirits could barely affect the physical world, and they were tied to Button House. Full possession<\/strong> , along with the idea of going beyond the Button House estate, makes the sequel feel much bigger than a stretched-out episode. It opens up fresh comic possibilities and gives the film higher stakes, while still building on mythology viewers already know.<\/p>\n\n

That should ease concerns a bit, because Ghosts stars and co-writers Mathew Baynton, Simon Farnaby, Martha Howe-Douglas, Jim Howick, Laurence Rickard, and Ben Willbond are all back, and they wrote the film too. So the rule-bending<\/strong> is coming from the same team that built the world in the first place. If you weren’t sure about a big-screen Ghosts, this does look worth watching.<\/p>\n\n

You can watch the trailer online now. The film opens in the UK and Ireland on October 23, 2026<\/strong>, and there’s still no confirmed US or wider international theatrical or streaming date.<\/p>\n
