That said, as of early 2026, it still seems pretty far off.<\/p>\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">If you missed the 2006 original, Okami is an action-adventure game set in a mythic version of Japan. You play as Amaterasu, the white wolf sun goddess, moving through a world shaped by Shinto-inspired folklore. The game\u2019s sumi-e art style still stands out, and the story pulls in figures like Susano and Orochi. Then there\u2019s the Celestial Brush, which lets you paint slashes, repairs, blooms, environmental changes, and puzzle solutions directly onto the screen.<\/p>\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Okami launched <strong>late in the PlayStation 2 era<\/strong>, and that hurt its sales early on. Still, the game stuck around. It holds a 93 on Metacritic, picked up new life through remasters, and by June 2026 the franchise had reached 4.8 million sales, according to Capcom. Okamiden, the Nintendo DS follow-up released in 2010, never really landed with the same force as a proper full sequel.<\/p>\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">If you like action-adventure games with a strong visual identity, <a href=\"https:\/\/okami-hd.en.softonic.com\/\" rel=\"noopener\">Okami HD<\/a> is easy to recommend.
