IDC has published its latest Europe AI spending forecast, and the headline number is big: the market is on track to approach $470 billion by 2030<\/strong>. IDC expects Europe\u2019s AI market to grow 35% between 2025 and 2030 as companies move AI out of pilot mode and into core systems tied to efficiency, resilience, risk management, and other critical processes, even with geopolitical strain and tighter budgets in the background.<\/p>\n

Generative AI is expected to account for 55.4%<\/strong> of total spending. IDC also points to agentic AI as a driver in areas like security, fraud detection, threat intelligence, and self-service.<\/p>\n\n

Software will make up 54.9%<\/strong> of AI spending in 2026, and it\u2019s also the fastest-growing segment, with a 43.9% CAGR. Within that, AI platforms lead at 61.1%, which says a lot about what buyers want right now: governance that can actually scale.<\/p>\n\n

By industry, banking is set to be the single biggest spender at 12.6%<\/strong>, while financial services as a whole will represent 19.2% of the market. Healthcare, though, is where growth is expected to move fastest at 41.0%. IDC says nearly two-thirds of healthcare AI spending in 2026 will go toward clinical workflow and resource optimization.<\/p>\n\n

If you follow enterprise AI, this forecast is worth a read. The EU AI Act<\/a> is already influencing buying decisions, and that effect will get stronger as the transparency and high-risk rules take effect on August 2, 2026<\/strong>, with the rest following on August 2, 2027. That matters most in sectors like banking, insurance, and healthcare. Europe is also still dealing with fragmented implementation, talent shortages, pressure from cloud costs, a \u20ac10 billion plan for seven gigafactories, and an infrastructure gap of roughly \u20ac600 billion.<\/p>\n\n
