The question, from what’s been reported, is whether Binance knowingly let that activity happen or failed to stop it, and whether the compliance measures it installed after its 2023 settlement were actually strong enough, or simple to get around.

        Binance
        Download

        <text class="rating-score__number" content="" text-anchor="middle" transform="matrix(1 0 0 1 25 31.0837)" data-auto="app-user-score"></text>

There haven’t been any new charges so far, and it’s still not clear whether prosecutors believe any misconduct took place after Binance entered its earlier plea deal. Back in 2023, Binance pleaded guilty to violating U.S. anti-money-laundering and sanctions laws, agreed to pay $4.3 billion, and came under tighter monitoring. Earlier enforcement findings also said the exchange processed more than $898 million in trades between U.S. users and users in Iran from January 2018 through May 2022.

There’s also a separate civil forfeiture case from September 2026. That case sought $61 million tied to alleged black-market Iranian oil sales and claimed that Blessed Trust and Hexa Whale used Binance accounts to launder more than $1.5 billion for the Iranian government and the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps, or IRGC. Binance itself, though, wasn’t accused in that filing.

Binance says it has a zero-tolerance policy and that it’s cooperating. The company also denies related claims from February 2026 involving compliance staff and $1.7 billion in payments. If you keep an eye on crypto regulation, this is one to track, especially given the size of Binance’s global platform. The company says it handled $11.4 trillion in volume in the first half of 2026 and had more than 320 million users by July.

        Coinbase
        Download

        <text class="rating-score__number" content="" text-anchor="middle" transform="matrix(1 0 0 1 25 31.0837)" data-auto="app-user-score"></text>

Binance is reportedly facing a new round of scrutiny in the U.S. The Justice Department’s criminal division, along with the U.S. attorney’s office in Manhattan, is looking into whether the exchange allowed Iranian-linked trading that ran afoul of American sanctions.
