Apple TV+<\/a> has officially ordered Neuromancer<\/em> as a 10-episode series, finally bringing William Gibson\u2019s hugely influential 1984 cyberpunk novel to the screen after years of false starts and abandoned attempts to adapt what plenty of people had written off as an \u201cunfilmable\u201d book.<\/p>\n

Graham Roland and J.D. Dillard are creating the show together. Roland will serve as showrunner, and Dillard is set to direct the pilot<\/strong>. You can expect the story of washed-up hacker Case and mirrored-eye assassin Molly as they move through espionage, artificial intelligence, and a digital heist in a novel that gets cited over and over as an influence on everything from The Matrix<\/em> to modern gaming and anime.<\/p>\n\n

Apple still hasn\u2019t announced any casting or a release date, but the longer format gives this material a much better chance of landing than a two-hour movie<\/strong> ever could, especially when you\u2019re dealing with William Gibson\u2019s dense world-building, virtual landscapes, noir tone, and layers of tech jargon.<\/p>\n\n

If you\u2019ve been into Apple TV+\u2019s sci-fi lineup<\/a> with Foundation<\/em>, Silo<\/em>, Severance<\/em>, and For All Mankind<\/em>, this looks like a promising addition. Neuromancer<\/em> brings a darker, more street-level<\/strong> future to the service, and it could end up as a major new crown jewel.<\/p>\n\n
