It\u2019s not a new Stargate series or movie, but it does give fans something they haven\u2019t had in a while: a downloadable Stargate sandbox. The mod reshapes Stardock\u2019s strategy game into a Stargate setup built around empire-building, research trees, fleet combat, and wars that stretch across star systems. It pulls from Stargate SG-1, Stargate Atlantis, and parts of Stargate Universe. Based on the project\u2019s ModDB and <a href=\"https:\/\/github-desktop.en.softonic.com\/\" rel=\"noopener\">GitHub<\/a> pages, the featured or planned factions include the <strong>Tau\u2019ri, Goa\u2019uld, Asgard<\/strong> Replicators, Ori, Asurans, Wraith, and Travellers. Even the Goa\u2019uld Ha\u2019tak model uses the Stargate Universe season 1 design.<\/p>\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Part of the reason Stargate Invasion is getting noticed is simple: there\u2019s still no official <strong>live-action follow-up<\/strong>. Reports say Amazon MGM canceled Martin Gero\u2019s Stargate revival in June 2026 before filming started, even after the project had reportedly spent about two years in development, got the green light in November 2025, assembled a full writers\u2019 room, and had already entered UK pre-production. Executives reportedly had doubts about how big the audience would be, while insiders blamed turnover and shifting priorities.
