Premium Edition and Collector’s Edition owners get in five days earlier.

That early-access rollout starts on October 1 at 8 a.m. PDT, 11 a.m. EDT, 4 p.m. BST, and 5 p.m. CEST. In Japan and Australia, it lands a little later because of the time difference: 12 a.m. JST and 1 a.m. AEST on October 2. The standard launch follows that exact same regional schedule on October 6, or October 7 if you’re in Japan or Australia.

So if getting in early matters to you, the Premium Edition or Collector’s Edition are the ones to buy. If not, Xbox Game Pass or the standard edition will unlock the game on October 6. E-Day is a prequel set 14 years before the first Gears of War, back when Marcus Fenix and Dominic Santiago were younger and Emergence Day had just begun, with the Locust bursting out from below. Reports point to a darker, more horror-leaning take, closer to the series’ earlier tone.

The game runs on Unreal Engine 5 and adds movement and traversal updates, 4K at 60 fps, solo play, two-player split-screen, four-player online co-op, a 12-player Horde Siege PvE mode, and a reworked 4v4 Versus suite. It’s also expected to have a spot in Xbox’s holiday showcase. Reviews go live on October 1.

You can preload Gears of War: E-Day right now on Xbox Series X|S or PC through the Xbox app or Steam, as long as it’s already in your library. It’s a day-one Xbox Game Pass release, and you’ll want to clear some space first: the install size sits around 115 to 120 GB.

Gears of War: E-Day hits Xbox Series X|S and PC at the same time on October 6, 2026 at 3 p.m. UTC.
