Dire Wolf has announced War of the Dragon: The Wheel of Time<\/a><\/strong>, an officially licensed board game based on Robert Jordan\u2019s fantasy series. According to the Kickstarter<\/a> campaign, shipping is currently slated for June 2027.<\/p>\n

The studio, which also made Dune: Imperium<\/a><\/strong> and Clank!<\/a>, is calling it the first official board game adaptation to cover Jordan\u2019s full 14-book series, which Brandon Sanderson later finished. Backers have shown up for it fast: the campaign has already cleared $1.1 million on Kickstarter, well beyond its $50,000 goal.<\/p>\n\n

This game doesn\u2019t go book by book through every plot beat. The Kickstarter pitches Light-versus-Shadow<\/strong> as a Light-versus-Shadow strategy game that runs from The Shadow Rising through the end of the series, with area control, tableau building, and action selection at the center of it. It also includes a four-player Hero Mode and a heavier two-player Epic Mode built around larger army battles, according to the campaign.<\/p>\n\n

If you follow The Wheel of Time<\/strong>, or you\u2019re just into hobby strategy games, this one looks like it\u2019s worth keeping an eye on. The standard Dragon Reborn edition was listed at $90 and comes with boards, cards, tokens, magnetic wheel spinners, and 38 standees. The $123 One Power edition adds 40 PVC miniatures plus colored bases, the Kickstarter says.<\/p>\n\n

You can track War of the Dragon: The Wheel of Time<\/strong> on Kickstarter. Its arrival comes just after Amazon Prime Video\u2019s The Wheel of Time wrapped after three seasons, even as the franchise keeps growing through animation, films, and video games.<\/p>\n
