Apple TV+<\/a>\u2019s Dark Matter<\/a><\/em> just got a pretty strong public nod from Hugh Howey, the Wool<\/em> author whose work also became Apple TV+\u2019s Silo<\/em>. On Threads, Howey didn\u2019t hedge: \u201cGet on it, people! The best show airing right now<\/strong>.\u201d<\/p>\n

That carries some weight if you keep up with Apple TV+\u2019s sci-fi run. Howey is already closely linked to the platform through Silo<\/a><\/em>, and he\u2019s been vocal before about how well Apple handles the genre. In a Reddit<\/a> AMA, he said Apple is \u201ckilling it\u201d<\/strong> with sci-fi, and specifically pointed to For All Mankind<\/em> and Severance<\/em>.<\/p>\n\n

Dark Matter<\/em> is based on Blake Crouch\u2019s 2016 novel and follows physicist Jason Dessen, the Box, and a tangled maze of alternate realities. The cast moves through those intersecting timelines with Joel Edgerton, Jennifer Connelly, Alice Braga, Jimmi Simpson, Dayo Okeniyi, Amanda Brugel, Chris Diamantopoulos, and Oakes Fegley all in the mix.<\/p>\n\n

There\u2019s also more coming<\/strong>. Season 2 will go past the events of Crouch\u2019s novel, but Crouch created the series and is still the showrunner. At the same time, Apple TV+ keeps leaning harder into sci-fi with Severance<\/em> returning for a second season, For All Mankind<\/em> heading into a fifth, Star City<\/em> on the way, and Silo<\/em> being built out as a multi-season franchise.<\/p>\n\n

If cerebral sci-fi is your thing, Dark Matter<\/em> is well worth a look<\/strong>. It\u2019s streaming on Apple TV+.<\/p>\n
