Young Sherlock<\/a> is now streaming on Prime Video<\/a>, and it stands on its own as a separate Sherlock Holmes story. It isn’t replacing Robert Downey Jr.’s film version, and it isn’t officially tied to it either.<\/p>\n

The show draws from Andrew Lane’s novels and casts Hero Fiennes Tiffin as a 19-year-old Holmes at Oxford. Guy Ritchie also has a hand in it, serving as executive producer and directing the first two episodes. You can feel some familiar visual and tonal DNA from the Robert Downey Jr.-Jude Law movies because of that. Still, there’s no official canon connection<\/strong> between them.<\/p>\n\n

Tiffin’s Holmes feels less like the classic drawing-room sleuth and more like a younger version of Ritchie’s earlier take: brilliant, impulsive, and fully at ease with physical danger. The series leans into speed, action, and a rougher Victorian atmosphere, which pushes the detective side of things closer to spectacle.<\/p>\n\n

If you were worried Robert Downey Jr. had been pushed aside, Sherlock Holmes 3<\/a> is still hanging around. It’s been stalled for years by scheduling problems, even with writer Chris Brancato saying the script is finished and producer Susan Downey hinting at a possible America angle. There still isn’t a start date<\/strong>, and there still isn’t a green light.<\/p>\n\n

That limbo helps explain the rumors. Even so, the Robert Downey Jr.-Jude Law films still carry weight after making more than $1 billion worldwide<\/strong>, while Young Sherlock has landed to mixed reviews.<\/p>\n\n
