Season 3 of Lioness, also called Special Ops: Lioness, hits Paramount+<\/a> on August 2, 2026<\/strong>. At this point, Taylor Sheridan\u2019s CIA thriller looks like the streamer\u2019s clearest shot at a real franchise, and a Joe McNamara prequel still feels like the best place to take it next. Zoe Salda\u00f1a\u2019s Joe is already a seasoned CIA case officer in the current series, so a post-9\/11 prequel could catch her at the height of her field career, working deep undercover and helping build the Lioness program from the inside. It would also open the door to more ground-level action and a little more emotional pull, without just redoing the show\u2019s central setup.<\/p>\n

Special Ops: Lioness premiered on July 23, 2023<\/strong> as a CIA thriller centered on female operatives in the war on terror, with Zoe Salda\u00f1a, Laysla De Oliveira, Nicole Kidman, and Morgan Freeman leading the cast. The series kept moving from there: season 2 opened with two episodes on October 27, 2024, and season 3 arrives on August 2, 2026.<\/p>\n\n

If you\u2019ve been following the way Sheridan builds out his TV worlds, Joe McNamara still stands out as the strongest option<\/strong>, even if no Lioness spinoff has been officially confirmed. The more concrete recent talk has centered on Thad Luckinbill\u2019s Kyle McManus getting a fixer procedural, though Laysla De Oliveira\u2019s Cruz Manuelos and Nicole Kidman\u2019s Kaitlyn Meade are both still plausible options too.<\/p>\n\n
