Xbox executive Asha Sharma pulled Bethesda Game Studios\u2019 The Elder Scrolls VI<\/a> back into view with a mention of a \u201clive playthrough\u201d<\/strong> of \u201cThe Elder Scrolls VI: .\u201d Small as it is, that tease points to two pretty big things: there\u2019s a build people can actually play, and the long-awaited sequel may have an eight-letter subtitle.<\/p>\n\n

Bethesda Game Studios has used that same eight-asterisk format more than once, which makes this one of the strongest public clues<\/strong> so far that The Elder Scrolls VI is playable in some form. That stands out all the more because Bethesda has said almost nothing since first revealing the game at E3 2018, then shifting the studio\u2019s attention to Starfield<\/a>.<\/p>\n

At the moment, fans seem most attached to The Elder Scrolls VI: Sentinel. It fits the eight-letter pattern, connects cleanly to Hammerfell lore, and lines up with both a previously spotted Starfield easter egg and an older Reddit interaction involving Michael Kirkbride<\/strong>. Other guesses are still circulating too, including Redguard, Dominion, Cyrodiil, and High Rock, and every theory still comes back to the same thing: whether those eight stars really match the subtitle\u2019s exact length.<\/p>\n\n

If you\u2019ve been waiting through the 15 years<\/strong> since The Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim<\/a> and getting most of your Elder Scrolls news from The Elder Scrolls Online (ESO)<\/a> expansions, this tease feels like a real development, even if it also brings back the familiar frustration over how early Bethesda announced the sequel.<\/p>\n\n

The Elder Scrolls VI still probably isn\u2019t close. Reports have pointed to 2028 or 2029<\/a><\/strong>, and Xbox exclusivity remains on the table now that Microsoft owns Bethesda.<\/p>\n
