I don’t know if the same thing happens to you, but my Instagram Reels<\/a> tab is crawling with people promising that I’m going to get rich if I cheat at solitaire. Make videos using ChatGPT<\/a>, make books using ChatGPT, \u201cwrite\u201d up to 10 novels a day and publish them on Amazon\u2026 Anyway, peak desperation. However, despite the success (like it or not) of many of these projects made with AI<\/strong>, there are also people who can’t stand the sight of them. One of those people is Andrew Garfield.<\/p>\n

The actor, who’s burst into the Oscar race out of nowhere after Artificial charmed critics and audiences, says that after researching Sam Altman<\/a> to play him, he hasn’t felt any more desire to play around with AI. \u201cIt scared me a little. I felt distrust toward the technology. It seems the people encouraging us to use it don’t know exactly what it’s capable of<\/strong>. Personally, it seems a little irresponsible to me\u201d<\/em>.<\/p>\n\n

Although more and more people are dependent on ChatGPT to do literally anything, Garfield has refused to use it any more: \u201cLuckily, I don’t need ChatGPT in my life as much as other people in other industries. As an actor, I was using it as a kind of fancy Google<\/a> for research<\/strong>. I know that’s not what it was made for\u201d<\/em>. You know what looks a lot like Google? Exactly: Google.<\/p>\n\n

We all know Hollywood’s next strike will have AI at its center, but the actor says it won’t be that big a deal: \u201cI don’t think actors are going to be rendered useless. The soul of humanity is the soul of humanity. And I think actors are some of the people who are going to have to keep humanity alive in all of us<\/strong> and in the stories we tell\u201d<\/em>.
