At the first Crunchyroll<\/a> Anime Future Forum, which focused on the future of anime, especially the Crunchyroll platform (which Sony acquired in 2021 for $1.1 billion), there was a surprise no one expected: the appearance of Hideaki Nishino, CEO and president of PlayStation. He was there to announce the integration of anime more fully into PlayStation 5 on the main menu with a \u201cdedicated space,\u201d starting in spring 2027<\/strong>.<\/p>\n\n

According to Nishino, the goal is \u00abto make it easier for the PlayStation community to discover and explore the anime content it enjoys\u00bb. That doesn\u2019t change the fact that the console already has a dedicated Crunchyroll app<\/a> that lets you access the service<\/strong>, but the goal is for anime to have a more consistent, front-and-center presence on the console.<\/p>\n
