Ex Machina Studios is bringing two AI-generated TV pilots, Space Nation<\/em> and Kira<\/em>, to Mipcom in Cannes this week for their world premieres. K5 Intl. is pitching them to international buyers as finished shows<\/strong>, not tech demos. That alone says a lot about where fully generative TV production now stands: it’s starting to move out of the experiment phase and into the actual global market.<\/p>\n

Both pilots come from Ex Machina Studios, and K5 Intl. is handling worldwide sales. They’re being presented as market-ready series<\/strong> at a moment when Mipcom is putting more attention on production technology<\/a> across the whole chain, from development to production to distribution.<\/p>\n\n

For buyers, studio executives, and people tracking the streaming business, Cannes will be an early measure of whether generative workflows can make the jump into real commissioning and acquisition conversations. Backers keep pointing to the obvious advantages, lower costs<\/a><\/strong>, faster turnaround, and a huge fit for sci-fi and fantasy. The arguments haven’t gone away, though. Jobs, copyright, consent, compensation, and who stays in control are all still being fought over, well after Hollywood’s 2023 labor talks.<\/p>\n\n

Space Nation<\/em> is an eight-episode<\/strong> alien-invasion series about elite pilots defending Earth. It first screened at Mipcom last year, then went on to secure a co-production deal and Original status in Brazil with Brazilian streamer Globoplay. The creators are Marco Weber and director Martin Weisz. Kira<\/em>, meanwhile, is a six-part French sci-fi fantasy from Damien Steck and Julien Petit. It follows a girl on a living planet as she searches for her father and tries to restore balance.<\/p>\n\n

If you keep an eye on AI-made entertainment, this week’s launch matters. $1.97 billion<\/strong> in 2024, with projections rising to $20.7 billion by 2034.<\/p>\n\n

For now, both projects are in front of international buyers at Mipcom, and Space Nation<\/em> already has that Globoplay connection<\/strong> in Brazil.<\/p>\n
