Missed it in theaters? What you\u2019re getting is a 131-minute<\/strong> psychological thriller from Paul Feig, adapted from Freida McFadden\u2019s bestselling novel. Sydney Sweeney<\/a>, Amanda Seyfried, and Brandon Sklenar lead this glossy, R-rated story about Millie, a recently paroled woman who takes a live-in maid job with the wealthy Winchester family, and watches it curdle into something much darker, fast.<\/p>\n\n

It plays like a pulpy domestic thriller, all manipulation, discomfort, and that big mid-movie perspective shift. Amanda Seyfried\u2019s unhinged Nina and Brandon Sklenar\u2019s polished Andrew do a lot of the heavy lifting when it comes to tension. Critics mostly tagged it as campy, loaded with twists, and reliably fun to watch. A lot of reviews zeroed in on Seyfried. Audiences were clearly on board with the movie\u2019s bigger swings, and by the end of its run it had picked up a Certified Fresh<\/strong> rating on Rotten Tomatoes<\/a>.<\/p>\n\n

So if twisty mainstream thrillers are your thing, this is the kind of movie you\u2019ll want to catch before somebody ruins the turn.<\/p>\n\n

The numbers were big. Made for a reported $35 million<\/strong>, The Housemaid went on to pull in more than $400 million worldwide. A sequel, The Housemaid\u2019s Secret, is already dated for December 17, 2027, with Sydney Sweeney and Paul Feig both coming back.<\/p>\n
