So HBO<\/a> Max isn\u2019t going away<\/strong> overnight, and Harry Potter is still slated to debut on HBO and HBO Max before any broader direct-to-consumer overhaul begins.<\/p>\n\n

Skydance CEO David Ellison has placed the Harry Potter reboot<\/a><\/strong> near the middle of Skydance Corporation\u2019s lineup, and some reports suggest you may even get dual availability during the transition while Skydance tries to reach as many viewers as possible.<\/p>\n\n

If you\u2019ve been keeping tabs on the franchise, pay attention to this: Paramount\u2019s Warner Bros. Discovery deal closed on October 6, 2026<\/strong>, created Skydance Corporation, brought Harry Potter under the same roof, and turned the franchise into a big-budget revenue engine the company is counting on for the next decade.<\/p>\n\n

The Harry Potter TV series premieres globally on Christmas Day 2026<\/strong>. Season 1 covers Harry Potter and the Philosopher\u2019s Stone, and Season 2, based on Chamber of Secrets, has already been greenlit.<\/p>\n\n

For the time being, HBO and HBO Max<\/strong> are both still part of the plan, with Casey Bloys and JB Perrette overseeing streaming, David Ellison saying that \u201cHBO should stay HBO,\u201d and no final answer yet on merger timing, branding, pricing, international rights, or what the finished user experience will actually look like.<\/p>\n
