Doctor Who: Battles in Time is coming back on October 26<\/strong> under a new name, Circuit Breaker. This isn’t the TV show returning, though. It’s a limited collector set.<\/p>\n

So if you were hoping this meant new Doctor Who episodes<\/strong>, it doesn’t. The BBC has paused live-action Doctor Who production while it runs a tender for a new partner, and that process is set to continue through March 2027. That means you probably shouldn’t expect Doctor Who back before 2028, with 2029 still very possible. In the meantime, books, animation, and collector releases are filling the gap.<\/p>\n\n

What this release does bring is 15 new silver foil cards<\/strong> built around Jo Martin’s Fugitive Doctor, and you get the full set in a single purchase. The Fugitive Doctor teams up with UNIT, Kate Lethbridge-Stewart, Petronella Osgood, and Andrew Turner, facing off against a corrupted Weeping Angel, the Conductor, the Silence, and Daleks from Skaro. Companions are also joining Doctor Who: Battles in Time for the first time.<\/p>\n\n

There have been a few other shifts<\/a><\/strong> around the franchise lately as well. Disney’s Doctor Who co-production has ended, the 2026 Doctor Who Christmas special was canceled, and Ncuti Gatwa is set to leave after his 2025 Doctor Who season. Even with all that, TARDIS Crew and the River Song novel Stormcage are still in development.<\/p>\n\n
