Microsoft says Outlook will drop Themes by Copilot<\/strong> in mid-October 2026. That feature currently lets people with a Microsoft Copilot<\/a> license create custom themes from Settings.<\/p>\n

The rollout is scheduled to finish worldwide by late October<\/strong>. It affects new Outlook for Windows, Outlook for Mac, Outlook on the web, Outlook for Android, and Outlook for iOS. Microsoft also says users and IT admins don’t need to do anything.<\/p>\n\n

If you’re already using a Copilot-generated theme, Microsoft says it will remain in place after the feature is retired<\/strong>. But if you switch back to one of the standard themes, you won’t be able to return to the Copilot version. Themes set to refresh automatically will still appear, but they won’t keep updating.<\/p>\n\n

For people who actually use Outlook’s personalization options, this matters. For most users<\/strong>, though, it’ll probably register as a pretty minor change.<\/p>\n\n

Microsoft hasn’t explained why it’s removing the feature, but the move lines up with the broader reshuffling around Microsoft Copilot. Other experiments, including Group Chats and Podcasts, have also been retired<\/strong>, and the reaction so far has run from disappointment to a shrug.<\/p>\n
