Obsession 2 is now in early development<\/strong>, which puts breakout lead Inde Navarrette a step closer to returning as Nikki after Obsession, a micro-budget horror movie, turned into one of 2026\u2019s most unexpected hits.<\/p>\n

Director Curry Barker had previously mentioned having a \u201ccool idea\u201d for where the story could go next, and he\u2019s now reportedly working on a direct sequel to Obsession while also weighing a One Wish Willow anthology. The first film, made for under $1 million<\/strong>, reportedly went on to earn more than $522 million worldwide and became the highest-grossing festival acquisition ever.<\/p>\n\n

That kind of response didn\u2019t come out of nowhere. Critics latched onto the movie\u2019s dark humor, social commentary, and steady climb into dread, while audiences pushed it even further with word of mouth, fan theories, and a marketing wave that kept building<\/strong>. Navarrette has also hinted that Nikki\u2019s next chapter should start in trauma and grief, after Bear used the One Wish Willow to strip away Nikki\u2019s autonomy and lock her inside a nightmare built on possession, coercion, and shattered consent.<\/p>\n\n

For anyone who got pulled into Obsession because of Nikki, this sequel already sounds like one to watch when it finally lands, especially with Barker also floating the idea of other filmmakers telling their own warped wish stories. A return would be a big moment for Navarrette<\/strong> too, and a fairly rare one: a breakout star coming back to the role that put her on the map, even as her lineup keeps growing with Rogue in Marvel\u2019s X-Men reboot and Apple\u2019s The Waffle House Index.<\/p>\n\n

There\u2019s still no release date<\/strong> or platform for Obsession 2.<\/p>\n
