Takara Tomy says The Legend of Zelda<\/a>: Historical Charms+ is coming to gachapon machines in Japan in October 2026<\/strong>. The release brings 12 Triforce-shaped metal charms, including A Link to the Past. And to head off the obvious confusion, this is merchandise, not a new game, remake, or remaster.<\/p>\n

It expands the 2017 set and bumps the lineup up to 12 charms<\/strong>, priced at about 300 yen each, roughly $2. The full set covers The Legend of Zelda, Zelda II, Link\u2019s Awakening, A Link to the Past, Ocarina of Time<\/a>, Majora\u2019s Mask<\/a>, The Wind Waker, Twilight Princess, Skyward Sword, Breath of the Wild, Tears of the Kingdom, and Echoes of Wisdom.<\/p>\n\n

So if you\u2019ve seen headlines hinting at a remake, that\u2019s not what<\/strong> this is. Historical Charms+ is merch. The confusion makes some sense, though. A Link to the Past was the SNES Zelda for a lot of people: the Master Sword, the parallel worlds, the whole blueprint that 2D Zelda would keep building from. Nintendo\u2019s 2004 sales data puts it at 4.61 million copies sold by that year, and it still feels like a reference point.<\/p>\n\n

For Zelda collectors, this is an easy thing to want. What Nintendo still hasn\u2019t announced, though, is an official A Link to<\/strong> the Past remake, despite years of people asking for one, a fan-made HD-2D reinterpretation, and the company\u2019s wider habit of revisiting older games for newer players. In the meantime, the original is still there through the SNES library on Nintendo Switch Online. There\u2019s no confirmed international release.<\/p>\n
