Michael Fassbender’s Assassin’s Creed is headed to Hulu in November 2026, giving viewers another shot at the 2016 video game adaptation before Netflix brings out its own Assassin’s Creed reboot. Justin Kurzel directed the film, and Fassbender pulled double duty in it, playing Callum Lynch and his 15th-century Spanish ancestor, Aguilar de Nerha, while also serving as a producer. The movie told an original story set inside the Assassin’s Creed universe instead of lifting one game directly, worked in the series’ ancestral-memory tech, and tied a lot of its action to the Spanish Inquisition.

Even with a major game brand behind it and a cast led by Fassbender, the movie came up short at the box office. It made about $240.7 million worldwide, including $54.6 million domestically, according to Box Office Mojo, against a reported budget of roughly $125 million. Reviews didn’t help much either: Rotten Tomatoes has it at 18% with critics and 42% with audiences.

For Ubisoft, that had to sting. Assassin’s Creed launched in 2007, built its identity around the long-running Assassins-versus-Templars conflict across different historical eras, and has since grown into a series with 14 mainline games.

Netflix’s live-action Assassin’s Creed reboot is doing something separate. It’s set in Rome in 64 A.D., comes from creators Roberto Patino and David Wiener, and has Lola Petticrew, Toby Wallace, Noomi Rapace, and Sean Harris in the cast. Production was reportedly underway in Rome in late 2026.

So if you want to catch up on where Assassin’s Creed has already been on screen before what many fans hope will be a better fit for TV arrives, this one’s worth a stream. You’ll be able to watch Assassin’s Creed on Hulu in November 2026.
