Variety reports that Luke Evans isn\u2019t involved in The Lord of the Rings: The Hunt for Gollum<\/em>, Andy Serkis\u2019 live-action Middle-earth film, which is set to hit theaters on Dec. 17, 2027<\/strong>. Evans also said Bard the Bowman would probably be dead by the time this story takes place.<\/p>\n

The outlet added that Evans pointed to Bain as the more believable link back to the Hobbit<\/em> trilogy, and said he\u2019d love to return to Wellington<\/strong>. Still, there\u2019s no widely available public statement that clearly confirms or flatly rules out his return, so Bard\u2019s place in all this is still a little murky.<\/p>\n\n

The Lord of the Rings: The Hunt for Gollum<\/em> is Serkis\u2019 next live-action Middle-earth feature. It sits between The Hobbit<\/em> and The Fellowship of the Ring<\/em> and centers on the hunt for Gollum, one of Tolkien\u2019s key<\/strong> unseen events. Peter Jackson, Fran Walsh, and Philippa Boyens are producing, while Walsh, Boyens, Phoebe Gittins, and Arty Papageorgiou are writing the screenplay.<\/p>\n\n

If you\u2019ve been keeping an eye on Middle-earth casting, there\u2019s more to chew on here: principal photography<\/strong> is reportedly close to finishing. Ian McKellen is said to be back as Gandalf<\/a>. Lee Pace has been linked to Thranduil, Jamie Dornan to a recast Aragorn, and Kate Winslet to an unspecified role. Debate is already picking up around Aragorn, new lore, and representation.<\/p>\n\n
