OpenAI CEO Sam Altman says software security<\/a> is running out of room<\/strong> with the old patch-the-bugs playbook. His point is that advanced AI models can now uncover vulnerabilities that fall outside the usual threat models, hardware included. Find the flaw, issue a patch, and hope people update before attackers move: he says that cycle may not be enough anymore. He also argues that many executives and governments misjudged how fast this exponential shift was coming. His answer is to put more models on defense, using systems that can spot weaknesses, rank them, and shut them down before attackers get there. Adoption is already moving in that direction. 97% of organizations either use AI security tools now or plan to, 88% are already using them in some form, and the market is projected to grow from $22.4 billion in 2023 to $133 billion by 2030.<\/p>\n

AI attacks jumped 89% year over year. AI-enabled breaches averaged $6 million, and 65% of organizations said an autonomous agent played a role in an incident. The warning covers the whole software stack. Critics, though, say vendors profit from both the risk and the fix, and AI-generated patches fail about half the time. So keep installing updates, even as the industry starts looking past Patch Tuesday.<\/p>\n
