This is very much an enthusiast machine, and Acer says the first batch of pre-orders sold out before the Predator Atlas 8 ever made it to store shelves.

Specs are stacked. You get Intel’s Arc G3 Extreme, up to 24GB of LPDDR5X RAM, up to a 1TB PCIe Gen 4 NVMe SSD, and an 8-inch 1920 x 1200 IPS touchscreen with 120Hz, VRR, Gorilla Glass Victus, and DXC coating. Acer also packs in an 80Wh battery, dual fans, TMR joysticks, dual-mode triggers, Wi‑Fi 7, Bluetooth 5.4, two Thunderbolt 4 ports, and a dedicated PredatorSense button.

Inside, the Panther Lake-based Intel chip can scale up to Arc B390 graphics with 12 Xe3 cores, ray tracing, and XeSS 3. Acer says its early comparisons point to performance that’s more than 40% higher than some Ryzen Z2 Extreme rivals, while also using power more efficiently.

If you’re after one of the quickest Windows handhelds out there, with access to Steam, Xbox Game Pass, and the rest of the usual PC storefronts, the Predator Atlas 8 has a lot going for it. The catch is the price. At $1,300, it’s drifting pretty close to gaming laptop money, and it has to contend with the Asus ROG Ally X20, Lenovo Legion Go 2, and MSI Claw 8 EX AI+.

You’ll be able to buy the Acer Predator Atlas 8 through Best Buy in the US starting November 1, though some pre-orders reportedly went live on October 23.
