Bungie, the studio behind Destiny, put out a roadmap update today that teased Destiny 2 Celebration, Destiny Legacy, and an as-yet unnamed Redacted project. It didn’t take long for people to start reading into it. The update has already kicked off speculation about a Destiny 1 remaster or modern port, and it’s stirred up Destiny 3 rumors all over again.

The part people are really zeroing in on is Destiny Legacy. In the Q&A, Bungie said it would make the full journey available “where you play today,” and a lot of fans took that as a hint toward a Destiny 1 remaster or a modern port. That reading got even more fuel after Josh Deane reposted a fan video showing Destiny running at 4K/60 FPS on PC and added, “Seems like a pretty game, wonder if it will do well…”

Redacted is pushing a different kind of speculation. Bungie teased it in the same update with just three words, “we’re back,” and that was enough to get Destiny 3 talk going again. Bungie still hasn’t confirmed any sequel, though, and recent reports say one isn’t in active production because of budget concerns and doubts about whether a full reset makes sense. All of that also lines up with Bungie changing course on Destiny 2 itself. After earlier plans to wind it down in 2026, the studio is now calling Destiny foundational again and says it plans to bring back vaulted campaigns, destinations, and raids for free in 2027 under its “forever Destiny” vision, according to the update.

If you follow Destiny, this is the kind of update you’ll probably want to read for yourself, even if Bungie still hasn’t said what form Destiny Legacy actually takes, whether any of it is being outsourced, or how the long-term model is supposed to work beyond restored content and celebration updates.

The full Q&A update is on Bungie’s website.
